The Dr. Oz Show Rebrand & Redesign
At The Dr. Oz Show I led all UX/UI, product design, and was head of brand & creative for digital. My core responsibilities included rebranding all of the digital properties with a new visual style and vision, and improving product features and functionalities.
Responsive Web Redesign
When I arrived at The Dr. Oz Show, the site was not responsive or mobile friendly. My team's challenge was to completely overhaul the design system and to create a site that was fluid, flexible, and future proof. We designed six break points in our system which allowed templates to feel balanced at all times. We added hosts of new features and functionalities that improved search, increased page views, optimized the video viewing experience, reduced friction for users, and allowed our team to better support priorities for the show.
Logos and Branding
To create cohesion between on-air and online features, I designed custom logos, brands, and graphics for special programs. This included work for landing pages, microsites, health programs, and video series. Developing unique looks and logos allowed for easy brand recognition when users saw something on TV and then continued their journey online.
Daily Dose App
I played an integral role in the conception of The Dr. Oz Daily Dose app, which offers users contextual health tips based on the date, time of day, weather, and user's location, gender, and age. For example, the design shows gradual changes in color and tone to depict changes from day to night and gives actionable and achievable time-sensitive tips. The design also allows for customizable sponsor experiences and thematic backdrops for special events.
Health Tools and Other Product Design
My role allowed me to move beyond just the look and feel of our products. Our product design process completely bypassed wireframing and moved straight to design where I dictated product functionality, UX, promotional strategy, and editorial priority. We created unique tools for tracking water consumption, sleep, weight, and health risks. We also designed dashboards to better promote show content and its related material.
